Our longest hotel stays in New Zealand was in Queenstown, a total of 6 days 5 nights. Located right in front of the beautiful Lake Wakatipu. Due to the bad weather, our Milford sound day trip was cancelled, hence, we a day to explore the town and had a good rest in the hotel.
A day trip to Akaroa, it is less than 2-hour drive from Christchurch. Akaroa is a little town that is beautiful and with a great view. I put down some transportation information for references and interesting activities that we did, like taking a cruise out to meet the world’s smallest and rarest dolphins, walking along the Akaroa Wharf and to the waterfall at Misty peaks reserve.
We had a day to spend in Christchurch and we plan to visit some of the attractions that interest us. We decide not to wander too far off where we are staying and our hotel is near to all these attractions which made it easier for us to explore around. This post will cover on what method of transport to use and where are the places of interest that might be worth visiting if you had little time lastly, some of my 2 cents opinions.
After reviewing other travellers recommendation on where should to stay at Christchurch. We chose Novotel Christchurch Cathedral Square Hotel over other recommendations because the price per night is mid-range.
We wanted to stay in a comfortable place after our long flight to Christchurch and this hotel is well located for some of the famous attractions that we planned to visit.
While we were planning our trip to New Zealand, the first step to kick start the trip is to buy our air tickets. After comparing the airfare, we decided to give up the direct flight, instead, we took Qantas Airline from Singapore which requires transit in Australia. Our flight to Christchurch actually require transit at Brisbane. However, we do not have much time at Brisbane airport due to the short connecting time.
