We are having a half-day excursion to Himeji as we would like to use our JR Kansai wide pass which covers up to Okayama and Tottori.
Started our day at Shin-Osaka station and hopped onto the Nozomi train to Himeji.
After 30 mis we reached Himeji station
Lot of lockers are available here, a great place for backpackers or a short stopover for travellers.
A new shopping area in Himeji with a great rooftop view and resting space.
The Himeji Castle from afar
Himeji Castle is about a 15 mins walk from the station.

Notes on Visiting Himeji Castle
- Please bring thick socks or comfortable indoor shoes. The inside of the buildings (Main Keep etc.) is a wooden floor. Because it is slippery and dangerous, also there is a risk of damaging cultural properties with the heels of shoes, please do not use the provided shoe bags as shoe covers.
- Please bring a shoe bag. No outdoor shoes are allowed inside the buildings (Main keep. etc.). Please put in a plastic bag (containing, plant-derived materials) that you will be given at the entrance of the building. Please bring your own bag (shoe bag) to protect the environment.
- Please take measures against heatstroke. Drinks in plastic bottles with lids or water bottles are allowed in the paid area. Although there are vending machines near the ticket gate, they may be crowded or sold out, we recommend that you bring your own beverages in advance.

After visiting Himeji Castle, we walked to the shopping street to have our lunch and do some shopping.
One of the famous snack shops selling fruit Daifuku in Himeji, shichifuku-do.
I had the strawberry daifuku, which was their best seller.
Would recommend this to travellers who went to Himeji to try this famous snack in the Hyogo region.
