[Move] Taiwan, Kao Hsiung-Transportation Guide

Heading down to Kaohsiung but not sure what are transportation that you could take or are there any pass available? Maybe this post could be of some help to you.

Single Journey Ticket

Go to any of the automatic ticket issuing machines pay as request.

Suggestions:

Only get this single journey ticket, when you are not keen to get a pass or having a short trip in Kaohsiung maybe 24 hours to 48hours and places you want to covered is less than 4.

The common card use:-

iPass

Easy card ( Starting on 2016/7/1, all metro line can be use)

Where to purchase?

-Information Counter in all Taipei Metro stations

– Information Counter in all Kaohsiung MRT stations/Convenience stores ( FamilyMart, Hi-Life and OK)

-Electronic Stored Value Card Service Center, Taoyuan International Airport (Terminal 1, 1 Floor)

-Electronic Stored Value Card Service Center, Taoyuan International Airport (Terminal 2, 1 Floor)

-Kaohsiung International Airport, Golden Founders Travel Services Center (International Line, 1 Floor)

-Fly Cool Travel Services Center, Taichung International Airport (International Line, 1 Floor)

-iPASS Taipei/Taichung Services Center

How much a card cost?

– Kaohsiung MRT stations: Adult card cost NT$100 deposit.
– Convenience stores: Adult EasyCard NT$100 deposit. ( To top up if you want)

There are also 1 day, 2days pass

The pass can be purchase at Services counters located at all Kaohsiung MRT stations, Convenience stores, bus station


Bus

Easy to know but ability to understand Traditional Mandarin is needed. Otherwise, is easy i will provide a bus route below for reference:

A side note: If you doesn’t have the iPass or any passes, is good that you prepare some coins with you before boarding


Ferry

There are a few port in Kao Hsiung that connects to a little island named Qijin.
