Deciding on which Kyushu pass should you get?

Here is a simple guide for you.

Let me explain the Kyushu pass available, there are 2 type of Kyushu rail pass available Northern Kyushu and All Kyushu area, they are separated into 3 day and 5days.

I will divide them into 2, Northern Kyushu and All Kyushu, will discuss on Northern Kyushu first.

Northern Kyushu

My comment:

For this trip i have choose the Northern Kyushu Area Pass 3 day pass. As i will be staying in Kyushu for 4 days 3 night and i do not have time to travel further down due to time constraint. Even though i brought the 3 day pass, to be exact i only use it for 2 days and it still help me to save quite a lot.

Pass price for children (age  6 – 11) is half of the adult price.

How the JR pass determined your child’s age:

-If you purchase the JR Kyushu Rail Pass overseas: the age of the child will be counted as the date of purchase.

-If you purchase a JR Kyushu Rail Pass in Kyushu, Japan: the age of the child will be as of the date when the pass is first activated.

Where to exchange/ Purchase your pass?

A short guide to exchange your pass at  Hakata Station:

Once you have alight at Hakata station from the Hakata airport station exit at central gate

Notice the green window sign written ticket, follow the sign:

How to reserve seat:

You could go down to the JR Station Ticket counter to fill in a form or you could download the form here before arrival and pass to the agent which could save a lot of time.

**Charges will be applicable if seat reservation limit is over.

The Rail Pass to show the staff at the side of the ticket gantry :

The pass cannot be used for JR Kyushu buses,B&S Miyazaki buses,the Cruise Train Seven Stars in Kyushu and the ARU RESSHA(Sweet Train).

The pass cannot be used for the Sanyo Shinkansen (between Hakata and Kokura).
