[Play] Singapore – Half a day at the Gardens by the Bay

Situated at the heart of Downtown Singapore, built on reclaimed land occupying a total land area of 1,010,000 sq m (101 ha).  Started as projects of the National Parks Board (NParks Gardens) there are 3 gardens,  Bay South, Bay East and Bay Central. The largest garden, Bay South was officially opened on 29 June 2012.

We spent around 4 hours at the garden by the bay,  as we visited both the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest which took us around 2 hours and had a walk around the park to the Supertree grove.

What are the differences between Supertree Observatory and OCBC Skywalk?

Supertree Observatory is taller than OCBC Skywalk and has a relatively small rounded walkway on top of one of the Supertree with city views of the Marina Bay area. On the other hand, OCBC Skywalk is a 128m walkway between 2 supertrees and you can walk through several supertrees.

Take the elevator up the mountain’s peak and look at unusual vegetation native to cloud forest habitats, typically found at some 2,000 metres above sea level.

Look for carnivorous plants such as pitcher plants and Venus Flytraps set against a verdant carpet of delicate ferns and mosses along the way.

Cloud forest Gallery

Temporarily closed from 2 Jan 2024

Enjoy interactive exhibitions and a dynamic short film at the Cloud Forest Gallery. Please find out how a growing human population and excessive use of resources impact our environment as well as the species living in it.

Overall:

I recommend visiting both domes as both are well-designed and there are lots of flowers and fauna to see and learn about the species being showcased there. Both domes are specially designed to imitate the different plants that are grown in different countries and landscapes. If you have time do stay for the garden rhapsody which is at night where you can sit between the supertrees enjoying light and music show.
