The not to be missed cuisine when you are in Nagoya. There is a saying that if you are in Aichi Prefecture, you should have at least one Unagi (Freshwater eel) meal and the best place to try would be in Nagoya city.
One of Nagoya’s famous dishes would be Hitsumabushi, and Atsuta Horaiken is the only restaurant that have their grilled unagi registered as “hitsumabushi”.

We were staying near the Nagoya Station and were pampered with lots of good and famous food nearby. The underground shopping street ESCA is the place for quick meal if you are stopping by at Nagoya station. Decided to head out to the suburban area of Osaka as we are not staying in the city centre. We stayed near to this ward called Sakai. Not many people have heard of it, however, if you have been to Osaka a few times you might be interested to visit this place. It has always been on my go-to list because of the photos I have seen online. Recently, it has garnered some attention due to the advertising that is done for its annual new year event.
One of the reason to visit Sakai ward would be to ride on the Chin Chin Densha which would pass by the residential area and the older district of Osaka. In this post we will be looking at how to purchase the tram pass and some of the places to visit.
When visiting Osaka, I will always try to search for a good okonomiyaki restaurant. We gave it a go and even though that there is not much review anywhere even in Japan site. However, it was the up and coming “B class” gourmet which was listed in 2018 Michelin Bib Gourmand.
A special treat for our family during Chinese New Year, we decided to stay at the Marriott Miyako Hotel for 2 nights. Have been hearing about since it was opened as it is located on the high floor of Abeno Harukas, Japan highest skyscraper. What to expect from this hotel would be its stunning view from your room, easy access to train station and more.
