We were a little bored staying in Queenstown the whole day, we decided to join a local tour group that brings us out of the town to Wanaka and Arrowtown. Both places can be covered within one day if you drive, if taking public transport, it will be better to split into 2 days. In this post I will explain the reason for that.
Our longest hotel stays in New Zealand was in Queenstown, a total of 6 days 5 nights. Located right in front of the beautiful Lake Wakatipu. Due to the bad weather, our Milford sound day trip was cancelled, hence, we a day to explore the town and had a good rest in the hotel.
We chose a slower route to travel from Christchurch to Queenstown, instead of traveling via plane, we took a tour bus. The itinerary we had for the day, our tour bus made a stop at Mount Cook Village which is at the bottom of Aoraki Mount Cook National Park, the highest mountain and the longest glacier in New Zealand, and we had a few quick stops where we are able to take the picturesque photos along our way to Queenstown.
