Planning to celebrate a year-end countdown in Taiwan? We will only think of the big concert at the city hall and see the fireworks up close. However, have you think of looking at the fireworks from Taipei 101 in a different view and away from the crowd? Why not head down to MaoKong, a quieter place to have the view of the Taipei 101 fireworks.
As Maokong is not at the city center, it can be quite confusing for the first timer who wish to visit the place. This post would serve as a transportation guide of how to get to MaoKong from Taipei City.
It was my first visit to Mao Kong, even though I ‘ve been to Taiwan a number of times. Since the gondola operated, I have been planning to go there but the timing is always not right and I have to strike it off my itinerary. This time round, I am not going to miss it.
Not many people know from MaoKong you actually see Taipei 101 if the weather is good. Most of the locals will find this place zen, where there are lots of tea house, and it is like a little village on the mountain.

As there was not many people queuing, you can choose between the crystal or normal cabin. We decided to chose crystal because I think it is quite fun and had a different ambiance at night, since I didn’t had the chance to seat in the crystal cabin when I was in Hong Kong .

8 Person (Max)
To be honest, it was so dark outside that it doesn’t really matter, whether you are seated in a crystal cabin or not since you can’t see anything below, however it was a great experience though
