We took a morning train from Lucern to Bern for a short and sweet tour around Bern city, and we can head back earlier to rest as we are going to Jungfraujoch the next day.
Bern City
Bern is the capital city of Switzerland which is built around a curve in the Aare River and a place with lots of UNESCO World Heritage Site. The beautiful Old Town, which situated at the heart of Bern offers a six kilometres arcades with a shelter or shade for the visitors to stroll through the city.

Clock Tower (Zytglogge)
The first western gate built in the city (1191 – 1256) with its famous astronomical calendar clock built-in 1530. Now it is one of the main attractions in Bern and the oldest clocks in Switzerland.

Along the way to the clock tower, we passed by some of the famous fountains.

If you are interested, do get a ticket to walk into the inner of clockwork to see the mechanism and have a view of the city.
Overall:
We did not join the tour to see the inner clockwork of the clock tower. The exterior of the clock tower is impressive, we are able to see an hour chime, two-tower clocks, the mechanical figures and astronomical clock which are all driven by a common mechanism.
Nydeggbrücke (Nydegg Bridge)
Nydeggbrücke bridge is the bridge that connects the eastern part of the old city to the new part. It crosses over the Aare river and located very close to the Bärengraben.

Overall:
The perfect view from Nydegg Bridge to see the two sides of the city separated by the Aare River, we spent some time here for photo taking and enjoying the breeze.
Rosengarten (Rose Garden)
Rosengarten (Rose Garden) is one of the most beautiful parks in Bern, it offers an exceptional view from the rooftops of the historic Old Town, The Cathedral of Bern and the Aare river. Rose Garden is a park which is special no matter what the season it is.

Cross the Nydeggbrücke, turn right to Rose garden.

Overall:
We spent a long time at the Rose garden taking photos, sat down and enjoyed the sun and scenery up there.
Untertor Brucke (Lower Gate Bridge)
The Untertorbrücke (Lower Gate Bridge) is a stone arch bridge that spans the River Aare at the eastern point of the Enge peninsula in the city of Bern, Switzerland, connecting the Schosshalde neighbourhood to Mattequartier of the old town.

We walked down from Rosegarden and went on a different route to see the other part of the town. It was definitely a nice slow stroll back to the Inner city.
Overall:
We had an enjoyable day in the Bern Old town. Not forgetting the long stroll back to the inner city by crossing the lower gate bridge over looking the Aare River.
